There really seems a grim chance for the wildlife in the country. Its either conservation gone wrong, or development in the wrong direction but we are definitely losing the best parts of our country...and really soon.

actually, wildlife conservation in itself seems to be on a backseat in India.. rail routes are being proposed and okayed right thru elephant corridors, and the status of river dolphins is no better.. You may want to read more on these at : http://userpages.umbc.edu/~sjoshi1/mirror/threats.shtml and also at the cnn-ibn report of how the Nation Chambal Sanctuary (NCS) is neglient in protecting the survival of the gharial here: http://www.ibnlive.com/news/sit-gharial-faces-extinction-/32343-3.html

The gharials of India are the least popular of all species of its kind. It's a pity and a matter of shame that we are not caring for an animal, that like the Indian elephant or the Gangetic dolphin, is the pride of our country.
