1. Delhi: government nod to only 14 5-star hotels to operate

Of the 35 five-star hotels in Delhi, only 14 have the consent to operate  from the government.

The Planning Commission’s environment index for 2012 has ranked Delhi quite low on different environmental parameters. The Capital is placed at the 30th position among 35 states and union territories.

The government might have hurried with the air pollution monitoring action plan had it known that its officials were breathing possibly the most polluted air in the city. The Civil Lines area has recorded the worst air quality levels in Delhi.

6. DUAC shows red flag to high-rises in south Delhi

The Delhi Urban Art Commission has objected to the central government’s proposal to replace old government housing colonies in south Delhi with high rises, saying it would have a significant adverse impact on New Delhi’s character and environment.

7. Power Ministry, Environment Ministry discuss hydro projects clearances issue

In a bid to foster development of hydro sector, the Power Ministry has taken up the issue of environmental and forest clearances related to hydel projects with the Environment Ministry.
