Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) in collaboration with Development Alternatives has announced the launch of the Youth Citizen Service – YCS Leadership Challenge 2015. Youth Citizen Service is an action learning programme for young Indians.

The programme is aimed at creating an opportunity for India’s youth to actively work towards addressing development issues while building a deeper understanding of the dynamics of poverty and development.

The YCS programme will select 12 young people in the age group of 22-29 who will then get an opportunity to volunteer in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradeshe as part of this full time, six weeks long programme.

The programme will support travel, accommodation, food, medical insurance and training costs of the volunteers during this period. Basic daily living allowance will also be provided to the volunteers on a weekly basis.

The YCS programme will help the youth discover themselves, learn interpersonal, leadership and other skills and gain valuable experience in the development sector. They will get to learn about various livelihood interventions in the target community and also get a chance to contribute to related issues in the specific community.
