In 2014, Yes Bank became the first bank in India to get ISO 14001:2004 certification. ISO 14001:2004 is a voluntary standard developed by the International Organization for Standards that sets out the criteria for an environmental management system. An ISO 14001:2004 provides assurance to company management, employees and external stakeholders that environmental impact is being monitored and measured in the said organization.

YES BANK has now successfully completed ISO 14001 certification for 184 of its locations. This speaks for Yes Bank’s commitment to environment and conservation, and its intent to rigorously measure, manage and report its environmental performance. This is also proof that Yes Bank is actively working to implement world class management system across its new and existing branch network.

Currently in its twelfth year of operation, YES BANK has pledged towards climate action and has demonstrated leadership in framing environmental policies to reduce green house gas emissions from its operation. The Bank also has plans to migrate to the new ISO 14001:2015 version of environmental management system this year, following a lifecycle impact approach of its operation during recertification to the new cycle.

Speaking on this achievement, Mr. Rana Kapoor, Managing Director & CEO, YES BANK noted, “We are extremely pleased to enhance the scope of the ISO 14001:2004 certification to all our hub branches. It not only endorses our leadership position in environmental sustainability, but also our commitment towards effective climate action.”

Ms. Namita Vikas, Group President and Chief Sustainability Officer at YES BANK reacted to this achievement by noting, “YES BANK is committed to continuously benchmark and enhance its environmental performance through strategic internal interventions. By creating enduring value, and sustainability leadership, we engage with our internal and external stakeholders to create awareness for environmental risk mitigation. The continuity in the certification is a strong endorsement of YES BANK’s sustainability leadership and underlines our Responsible Banking ethos.”

The ISO 14001:2004 Certification would entail that YES BANK continues to reduce its resource usage, minimize waste generation and disposal costs, reduce energy consumption and improves process efficiency and utilization of recoverable resources.
