The ongoing summer months of May to July are the undeclared travel months for most Delhiites. Some travel around Delhi, other choose destinations around the country. Still others search for green paradises as far away as Europe and Australia.
One international destination, not very far from Delhi, that is worthy of being explored is the Garden City-State of Singapore! Singapore is a one-stop-shop for sights, sounds, tastes and cultures and you will realize this the moment you land at the amazingly maintained Changi Airport – a tourist destination in its own right!
Singapore is a global city and you can find a mix of every Asian culture here. The everyday Singaporean lifestyle is thus uniquely diverse, modern yet rooted in its heritage and culture.
The greenscape of Singapore can be enjoyed right from the Airport, which hosts the Singapore Zoo and Butterfly Park. You must also visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site!
A trip to Singapore is thus a complete ecotourism experience especially since almost half of Singapore’s total land area is under green cover. What you can also enjoy at Singapore is the trip to the world’s first night zoo with over 2,500 nocturnal animals. Night is as working as day in Singapore as it also takes pride in hosting the world’s first Formula 1 Night Race in 2008!
What is also interesting about Singapore is that though everyone speaks and understands English, four prominent languages are spoken here, which are English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil!
Over 10% of its approximately 5 million population is of Indian origin. Visiting Singapore therefore becomes more inviting since it is like visiting a home away from home!
