Renewable Energy Ministry Holds Chintan Baithak Amidst Climate Crisis

The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) seemed to be gearing up to tackle the climate crisis head-on. The Ministry held a Chintan Baithak with the stakeholders of Renewable Energy Sector in New Delhi on 7 May 2019. The Meet was Chaired by Secretary, MNRE, Anand Kumar and was participated by representatives of Renewable Energy (RE) developers, equipment manufacturers, funders, regulators and skill developers.

It is noteworthy that the Parliament of the United Kingdom recently declared a Climate Emergency and became the first country in the world to do so. There is need for nations around the work to take actionable initiatives for fighting the climate crisis which is getting more concerning each passing day.

The day long Meet deliberated upon issues pertaining to the RE sector viz. solar, wind, bio-energy, small-hydro, regulatory issues, bidding & pricing, demand forecasting, financing of RE projects, energy storage, Make in India, skilling India’s RE work force etc. Additional Secretary, MNRE Praveen Kumar and other senior officials of the Ministry were also present during the meet.
