Govind Singh, Editor-in-Chief

Govind Singh is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the the Delhi Greens Blog and manages the content as well as the technology that drives this online ‘Green Media Network’ project. Based in New Delhi, Govind is an environmental activist and researcher and is working to generate environmental awareness and promote sustainable development across India.

Govind holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Delhi from where he is now pursuing his Ph.D. on urban ecology and sustainable development. Govind is also a Climate Project presenter and has initiated the youth climate movement in the country. He has considerable experience in organising local as well as global action on climate change and his areas of interest and expertise include urban ecology, sustainable development, climate change, biodiversity conservation, gender studies and disaster management.

Aastha Kukreti, Research Coordinator

 

Aastha Kukreti is Associate Editor of the Delhi Greens Blog and edits and authors stories and features in addition to overseeing online publication and distribution. Hailing from the never-out-of-season state of Uttarakhand and based in Delhi, Aastha has previously worked with environmental consultancies in development projects in the Himalayas.

Aastha holds a Master’s degree in Environment Management from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. She has also worked as a Junior Research Fellow in a DoE, GNCT sponsored Delhi University project for monitoring ground water pollution in all nine districts of the NCT of Delhi. Her areas of interest and expertise range from solid waste management, green audits, water pollution & monitoring, environmental impact assessment, ecofeminism, environmental equity and social justice.

Chandni Singh, Associate Editor

Chandni Singh is Associate Editor of the Delhi Greens Blog and also works as Programme Coordinator (Internships) at Delhi Greens. Based in Delhi, she has worked extensively across the Himalayan states of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Arunachal Pradesh, working with indigenous communities in the field of natural resource management.

With a strong love for nature inculcated from her childhood spent at her ancestral village in west Uttar Pradesh, Chandni chose to pursue her Master’s in Natural Resource Management from TERI University. After working in the non-governmental sector for two years, Chandni is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Livelihoods from the University of Reading, UK. Her doctoral research aims to understand how water scarcity affects farmers in northern India and the adaptation strategies they employ. Her areas of interest and expertise include water scarcity, greening urban spaces, the human-environment interface, participatory development and vulnerability and adaptation to climate change. An avid reader and writer, Chandni is a passionate dog lover and active participant in animal welfare organisations. She is also extremely fond of travelling and trekking.


Gialome, Senior Correspondent

 

Gialome is the ‘type’ name of our Senior Correspondent who has been associated with the Blog since almost two years, when she was based in Delhi and working with a leading environmental charity in the city. Having now shifted to Mumbai, the city of her childhood days, Gialome is still part of the Blog which is only an indication of her love for Delhi and her passion for writing. She writes on all aspects of a city life especially with respect to big metros.

With a Bachelor’s from University of Bombay, a Master’s from University of Pune and a Ph.D. on Man-Environment relations from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (at a time when Mumbai was known by that name) Gialome has wide array of interests and expertise in various topics of environment and development. She has penned several chapters on the subject and has been involved with various development projects across the country.

Impuri Shimray, Senior Correspondent

 

Impuri Shimray is a Senior Correspondent with the Delhi Greens Blog and oversees web content, maintains several databases and ensures the regular distribution of Blog reporting in addition to writing for the Blog. She also provides assistance in administrative matters including organizing meetings and collaborating with contributors and relevant sources.

Hailing from the diversity rich Northeastern state of Manipur, Impuri is a dynamic and self-motivated person dedicated for the cause of environmental protection. A graduate from Miranda House, University of Delhi and an advertising and public relations professional from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi, Impuri is an ardent believer of Mother Nature as a supreme force which governs and guides wo/mankind ceaselessly. She is deeply interested in eco-spirituality and the progressive green movement.
