Month Long Dharti Bachao Cycle Yatra Concludes at Lucknow

The Dharti Bachao Cycle Yatra, a one man yatra that began on 5th June (World Environment Day) to raise environmental awareness concluded on 5 July 2016 at Lucknow. The journey covered a major part of Western Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The details about the journey till 24 June 2016, till Etawah, can be read here. From Etawah, Mr. Gyan Prakash reached Auraiya at 10.00 AM on 25 June. Mr. Shivam Vishnoi, President of Manavadhikar Sanrakshan Samiti along with Hemant Porwal, Dilip Tiwari and Shilu Tiwari welcomed Mr. Gyan Prakash in the district. The ongoing Dharti Bachao Cycle Yatra, a one man cycle yatra for raising environmental awareness, moved from NOIDA to Delhi on 17 June 2015. At New Delhi, Mr. Gyan Prakash met with the officials of the Prime Minister's Office due to the absence of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Mr. Gyan Prakash presented the officials with the petition urging for speedier implementation of policies and programmes for saving Mother Earth. After that he met Mr. Kamlesh Sharma a Senior Section Engineer in Northern Railways, New Delhi. From here, Mr. Gyan Prakash continued the onward journey till Bulandshahar. The ongoing Dharti Bachao Cycle Yatra, a one man journey for raising environmental awareness, left Bareilly on 12th June and reached Rampur. At Rampur, Mr. Gyan Prakash spent the night at Milak, 35 km before from Bareilly. Prior to this, on 11 June, Mr. Satish Bhatia, President of Rampur Nagrik Samaj welcomed Mr. Gyan Prakash Pandey at Rampur district. Mr. Bhatia and his team met the District Magistrate (DM) of Rampur and also briefed the media about Mr. Gyan Prakash's Cycle Yatra. The Dharti Bachao Cycle Yatra reached Bareilly on 11th June. Prior to this, Mr. Gyan Prakash had reached Barabanki District on 8th June 2016. At Barabanki, Mr. Gyan Prakash met the District Magistrate (DM) of Barabanki and presented her the campaign petition. Mr Gyan Prakash also met media persons in a public meeting event organised by local social workers of the district. World Environment Day was celebrated in Dwarka through the organisation of Greenothon, a cycling event on theme, "Care for Delhi's Air"! The event was organised by the Greenlco Eco Foundation and brought together thousands of Delhiites to cycle and show the path to a green future. The Greenothon cycling event covered a distance of 10 km and was organized with full support and cooperation from Delhi Police, MCD and the DDA. A thousand cycle enthusiasts thronged the venue while many others came to cheer the participants. The event was thoughtfully organised and the cycle run was divided in two categories: junior and seniors. The cyclists were escorted by the Delhi Traffic Police and three ambulances. The Dharti Bachao Cycle Yatra by Mr. Gyan Prakash Pandey, which had started from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh on 5th June (World Environment Day), has now reached Faizabad (the old capital of Awadh). Prior to reaching Faizabad, and after leaving Basti District Headquarter, Mr. Gyan Prakash had reached and stopped over at Chhawani Bazar, Faizabad Road. He spent the night here with support from Mr. Maya Shanker Tripathi, Professer of a local degree college. Chhawani Bazar is also the place which has a "Shaheed Smarak" which reminds us of the martyrs of 1857. 400 freedom fighters were hanged till death here by the Britishers in that year.
