The Vodafone Foundation, a registered charity in England and Wales, on 14 June 2017, announced that it will be expanding its ongoing education programmes to aid 5 million marginalized African children who have been kept out of the educational system from the beginning. The announcement came ahead of the World Refugee Day on June 20. The announcement also follows a UNESCO Research conducted in 2014 had found out that there are 263 million children in the age group of 6-17 years who are out of school. A staggering 93 million of these children belong to sub-Saharan Africa. A free health check-up Camp was organized by Emaar India at The Palm Drive located on the Golf Course Extension Road,  Gurugram. It was conducted by the real estate company, along with its health partner Bajaj Allianz and a team of specialized doctors from Park Alchemist Hospital, Gurugram and Lenskart. The Participants included The Palm Drive residents and site employees from Emaar India’s project sites on Golf Course Extension road. The Check Up included general health check-ups for height, weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure, blood sugar, eyesight, etc. Participants were also given a health awareness session conducted by the doctors with regards to lifestyle diseases, timely diagnosis and preventive measures to be adopted for a healthy life. Petition Committee Rebukes PWD Over False Claims of De-Silted Drains

Neeraj Kumar, a resident of Pandav Nagar (Delhi) had submitted a Petition on 29 May 2017, alleging failure on part of Public Works Department (PWD), Government of NCT of Delhi and the Municipal Corporations of Delhi in discharging their duties of de-silting the drains for preventing water-logging in Delhi. The Petition, countersigned by Sanjeev Jha (MLA), was directed to the Delhi Assembly Petitions Committee for further probe into the matter. On June 13 2011, Swami Nigamananda, who was on a fast unto death in Haridwar to protest against the illegal mining, quarrying and defiling of the Holy River Ganga - that he considered as Ganga Maa - passed away. Swami Nigamananda had fasted for more than 3 months and 20 days, staying without water or food all this while, and it is said that he would have continued his fast had he not been forcibly taken to the hospital. Such was the resolve of Swami Nigamananda, who was part of the Matri Sadan Ashram in Haridwar and was working along side Swami Shivananda on 'Save the Ganga' campaign.
