The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval for signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between United States of America and India to enhance cooperation in the field of wildlife conservation and combating wildlife trafficking. With this approval and the subsequent association, India stands to benefit from the expertise of the US Institutions in the field of wildlife conservation. Vultures are a bird species that have become locally extinct from Delhi region since almost two decades now. Vulture play a key role as scavengers in the natural ecosystem which makes them important. Their declines and local extinction from Delhi has therefore been a major loss to Delhi's urban ecosystem. The reason for the decline of vulture populations in Delhi is largely attributed to the use of the drug diclofenac. Diclofenac, a pain killer drug which is administrated to cattle and once vultures feed on the dead cattle, the drug enters the vulture's body and leads to the subsequent wiping out of entire vulture populations. In what may be seen as an acceptance to continuous and greater human encroachment into the wilderness, the Environment Minister released a leaflet entitled,  Living With The Leopards for the residents of North Mumbai. The Living with the Leopards leaflet was introduced on 5th June, World Environment Day and lists out practical tips to minimize danger to self in case of leopard spotting. The leaflet is said to be of utmost utility for the residents of North Mumbai suburbs which is located adjacent to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP). It needs to be noted that this part of the country has high density of human population and also reports high incidences of leopard entering housing colonies. Unique Environment Day Celebrations at Cadila Pharmaceuticals

With an aim to increase awareness on environmental issues and the citizen’s responsibilities towards it, Ahmedabad based Cadila Pharmaceuticals Ltd. celebrated World Environment Day 2016 in a unique way. The company launched a number of activities to conserve natural resources that are fast depleting. Activities like poster competition, essay contest, quiz and slogan contest were also organised in the various facilities of the company. A tree plantation drive at Senior Citizen Home at Kasindra Village, located near Cadila Pharmaceuticals' Bhat campus, was also organised. About 20 senior citizens from 'Matrudham' Institution planted saplings in their campus and with a message to the society to protect the environment and create green cover for the children and coming generations.

The Dharti Bachao Cycle Yatra by Mr. Gyan Prakash Pandey, which had started from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh on 5th June (World Environment Day), has now reached Faizabad (the old capital of Awadh). Prior to reaching Faizabad, and after leaving Basti District Headquarter, Mr. Gyan Prakash had reached and stopped over at Chhawani Bazar, Faizabad Road. He spent the night here with support from Mr. Maya Shanker Tripathi, Professer of a local degree college. Chhawani Bazar is also the place which has a "Shaheed Smarak" which reminds us of the martyrs of 1857. 400 freedom fighters were hanged till death here by the Britishers in that year. Automobile giant General Motors (GM) organised various activities focusing on environment safety and conservation on World Environment Day 2016. Dharti Bachao Cycle Yatra (Save Earth Cycle Journey), a one man initiative to raise awareness for protecting Mother Earth, started today from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The Journey is being undertaken by Mr. Gyan Prakash Pandey and is being provided social media support by Delhi Greens in collaboration with the Earth Day Network.
