The National Energy Conservation Day is celebrated on 14 December by the Ministry of Power in association with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). The objective of this celebration is to recognize the efforts of industry and other establishments towards promoting energy efficiency. The Ministry of Power, Government of India and the United States Agency for International Development recently launched India's first integrated web portal designed to promote and mainstream Net Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB). The portal was launched by Pradeep Kumar Pujari, Secretary, Ministry of Power and Ambassador Jonathan Addleton, USAID Mission Director to India. The Portal can be accessed by clicking here. The Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR) has joined hands with the Ministry of Power to announce a painting competition on Water Conservation. This competition will be conducted on the parameters similar to the ongoing competition of Bureau of Energy Efficiency to hunt for India’s Energy Efficiency Star. The method of participation and other modalities will remain the same. The Ministry of Water Resources is responsible for laying down policy guidelines and programmes for the development and regulation of country's water resources. The Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF), Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) have jointly developed a low carbon campaign for Commonwealth Games 2010. Young Indian sporting icons are shown in real life situations promoting green behaviour. Launched with the theme and title, 'Go Green - It Works', the campaign is aimed at inspiring the common man to adopt green behaviour in his/her everyday life and lifestyle. Even the Shera is promoted and utilized in the campaign as the CWG Mascot is seen cycling, promoting the use of CFL and biogas, advising viewers to carpool and plant trees and live a green lifestyle. Painting Competition to Hunt for India’s Energy Efficiency Star

As part of the National Awareness Campaign on Energy Conservation 2010, the Ministry of Power has announced a painting competition for school students at the State as well as National level. Inviting school children studying in 4th , 5th & 6th standard, the competition is a step towards generating awareness among the children on the need to conserve energy and will indirectly involve their parents. The competition is being held at the School, State and National Level and has cash prizes worth Rs 33,000 per State/UT.
