Waste to Magic Workshop in Bal Bharti Public School

Green Alert
It is indeed rightly said that childhood is a magic period! It is a time when when the child's imagination has no limits and her thinking is most beautiful. Given anything to make something creative out of anything, she will without doubt come out with some or the other adorable souvenir! This is what was experienced by the members and volunteers of the Delhi Greens 'Waste to Magic' project team while conducting a workshop at the Bal Bharti Public School, Pitampura. The Waste to Magic workshop turned out to be (what is usually is) an exciting and interactive exchange of concerns and ideas about creative ways of reducing, reusing and recycling our 'waste'. Its conclusion was the very redefinition of the word 'waste', from something that is not needed and should be discarded to something...

Delhi Greens Launches ‘Waste to Magic’ Campaign

Green Alert
The issue of waste is not a topic that many of us like to talk about, discuss or even mention as a passing remark in our day-to-day lives. This issue neither evokes the passion as does the topic of water and energy (which are now our basic requirements) nor does it have the magnificence and charm associated with the issue of wildlife and biodiversity conservation. Yet, Delhi wakes up to over 7,000 tonnes of solid waste everyday and overflowing garbage dumps are but a common sight in many parts of the city. There is thus an urgent and strong need to address the issue of waste generation and management and create widespread awareness on it. There is nothing called ‘waste’ in Nature, everything has its creative role. Everything can be living & beautiful. - Tsunamika (Auroville)
