What’s with the Climate?

The United Nations is talking about it. Countries from all over the world and irrespective of their development status and economy, are coming together and discussing it. Policies and protocols are being formulated and debated and the discussion on climate phenomenon have moved from universities and research labs to parliaments and drawing rooms.  So, What’s with the Climate? so serious that it is cutting across borders and bringing together world leaders, policy makers, bureaucrats and administrators, youth and people from all walks of life to engage in climate related talks.

The answer: it is CHANGING. The earth’s climate is changing, faster than we could have imagined and more rapidly than it has ever done before in the relatively brief time duration of the existence of human civilization on this Planet. And as if that wasn’t enough, and in all probability, it is perhaps us humans who have initiated this rapid change. And if that wasn’t enough still, and after realizing the devastating impacts of our activities, we are showing absolute reluctance in cutting down activities that are facilitating further change - towards making it impossible for life - as we know it - to live and sustain on the Planet.

Whats with the climate?

And it is the Indian subcontinent that will begin to face the consequences. In fact, we already have. Thus, we launched the What’s with the Climate? blog. From the front lines of the realities of climate change to the negotiation halls of UN conferences, hear the voices of people from across the subcontinent regarding climate change on: http://www.whatswiththeclimate.org

Serving as the voice of the nascent climate movement in India, “What’s with the Climate?” is attempting to provide an open forum for the discussion of climate change in the Indian as well as the global context. It is also the main source of media as well as an avenue for discussion on the topic of climate for the Indian Youth Climate Network. The blog aims to not just generate awareness on the issue but also establish a consensus for the need to take action.
