Participatory Theater Workshop by Praxis

praxis logoPraxis – Institute for Participatory Practices is non-profit organisation with a mission to strive for the democratization of development processes and institutions in order to ensure that the voices of the poor are heard and acted upon.

Praxis is organising a Participatory Theatre Workshop the module of which will mainly focus on Augusto Boal’s format of the Theatre of the Oppressed and will be facilitated in a participatory manner using innovative games, energisers and plenty of sharing opportunities.

This six-day module will be led by a well-known theatre persona, Lokesh Jain, who has trained many and diverse groups like street children, homeless people, environmental organizations and more. Lokesh’s solo and group proscenium performances have got fabulous reviews. Lokesh will be joined by a facilitator from PRAXIS as well.

This module on Participatory Theatre is highly recommended for all those who want to understand themselves in the first place and are keen to innovate and bring in community-led processes. No theatre background or related skills are required.

The module plan is likewise:

  • Day I: Try to know yourself in the space you’re living
  • Day II: Searching Emotions
  • Day III: Relationship & Dream Day
  • Day IV: Learning and crafting Forum and Image theatre
  • Day V: Performing
