The United Nations Environment Program invites applications for its Young Champions of the Earth Prize 2019. The Young Champions of the Earth is a Prize designed to breathe life into the ambitions of brilliant young environmentalists.

Managed by UN Environment in partnership with Covestro, Young Champions is inspired by the long-running Champions of the Earth Award, which remains the UN’s highest environmental honour. It aims to celebrate and support individuals aged between 18 and 30 with outstanding potential to create positive environmental impact.

About the Young Champions of the Earth Prize

Global warming is forcing our societies, our economies and our world to change. Our way of doing business; our careers and job opportunities need to change too. With this change comes unprecedented opportunity to take action. The UN has already shown the way through setting the 2016-2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

If you have a big idea to protect or restore the environment, if you have a vision for a more sustainable future, if you have a strong record of instigating change, if you are unafraid of failure and if you believe in a bright future for our planet, then you might have what it takes to become a Young Champion of the Earth.

Seven Young Champions, selected from every global region, will be chosen and will receive seed funding, tailored mentorship, publicity and access to powerful networks. If you win, you will be expected to use this support to implement your big idea.

Winners will be asked to share their experiences and advocate for your environmental cause through videos and Blogs. Also, up to 50 of the most promising applicants will be granted privileged access to an expert community of mentors. They will offer insights on topics ranging from communications and business development to project planning and financial management.
