Taj Surajkund Resort & Spa Commissions 50 kWp Solar Plant

Taj Surajkund Resort & Spa, Delhi NCR has taken a decisive step towards strengthening its sustainability credentials with the commissioning of a 50 kWp solar power plant, reinforcing Indian Hotels Company Limited’s (IHCL) commitment to responsible and future-ready hospitality under its Paathya ESG framework.
The newly installed solar plant is expected to generate approximately 73,000 kWh of clean energy annually, contributing close to 18.25 lakh kWh of renewable power over its lifetime. This transition to green energy marks a significant milestone in the resort’s efforts to enhance energy resilience, reduce carbon emissions, and integrate sustainability into core operations.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Ramneet Singh, Hotel Manager, Taj Surajkund Resort & Spa, Delhi NCR, said, “Sustainability is central to our operating philosophy and the guest experience we create at Taj Surajkund. The commissioning of our 50 kWp solar power plant is a meaningful step towards reducing our carbon footprint while strengthening long-term energy efficiency. Aligned with IHCL’s Paathya framework, we remain committed to implementing initiatives that are thoughtful, measurable and future-ready, while continuing to deliver the intuitive service and warmth that define Taj.”
Beyond renewable energy adoption, the resort continues to implement a comprehensive suite of sustainability measures across water stewardship, waste management, and green mobility. Its sewage and effluent treatment plants collectively support a capacity of 350 KLD, with treated water reused for cooling towers and irrigation. An in-house water bottling plant, capable of producing 1,000 bottles of 500 ml each, significantly reduces dependence on externally sourced packaged water.
The property has also invested in four rainwater harvesting recharge pits to aid groundwater replenishment and has installed three electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to encourage sustainable transportation. Supporting circular economy practices, the resort operates an organic waste composter with a 250 kg capacity, converting food waste into manure for on-site horticulture. In line with responsible refrigerant practices, the property has eliminated the use of R22 refrigerants across all refrigeration units.
Together, these initiatives underscore Taj Surajkund Resort & Spa, Delhi NCR’s ongoing focus on embedding sustainability into everyday operations while driving efficiency and long-term value creation. Guided by Paathya, IHCL’s ESG framework, the resort continues to make measurable progress towards a cleaner, more responsible hospitality future.
