Invite: Screening of 10 Tactics for Turning Information Into Activism
The power of technology to mobilise the masses and force change has been felt across the world – and now a documentary film-maker hopes to offer “practical advice” for activists. The film, “10 tactics for turning information into action” – offers practical advice such as “amplify personal stories”, and “how to use complex data”. “Technology and social media platforms have revolutionised the way we communicate and campaign on global and local issues,” says Stephanie Hankey, co-founder of Tactical Tech, the NGO behind the film. “We have seen examples of the power of social media to shine a spotlight on oppression and hold governments to account, notably in Iran and Burma.”
The film, which is being shown in over 35 countries, draws on the experience of 25 rights advocates from around the world who have used social media tools like Twitter, Google Earth and Facebook to successfully take on governments and corporations. Tibet Activist and member of Students for a Free Tibet (SFT) Shibayan Raha invites all interested individuals to the screening of this film in New Delhi.
Date: 25th May, 2010 (Tuesday)
Time: 5 pm to 7 pm
Venue: The Other Media, J-42, South Extension Part I, Second Floor, New Delhi – 110049

AN APPEAL FOR MOTHER EARTH!
Dear All,
Good Day!
Through this network, I would like to appeal for the following. We all know about the havoc already been done by us towards environment. Here is a chance to do our bid today, on the Environment Day. May I request you not to drive your car 5th June unless you have medical reason for the same? If your workplace is far off, you may try to use a public transport system rather than your own car; if it is nearer, go for cycling or walking. By doing so we may register our contribution towards a low carbon economy and a cleaner environment.
Kindly forward the request to all your acquaintances since contribution of
everyone counts.
I am sure you will feel good for doing something rather than only discussing on
carbon emission.
With best regards,
Yours truly,
Pradip Dey (A Feeler for Mother Earth)
Though I am recovering from a heatstroke, I will make an effort to come for the film. In case I can’t makw it I would love to be informed if it is screened again some place and would then definitely try to see it. This kind of film should be screened widely.
Thanks.
