World Water Day 2011

International World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. The theme of the WWD 2011 is ‘Water for Cities: Responding to the Urban Challenge’. Delhi Greens and the Dept. of Environment, Govt. of NCT of Delhi invite all to come take the “BE WATER WISE” pledge on this day and become a water warrior!

Save water

Delhi is the most rapidly urbanizing mega center in the country with an ever increasing population pressure which makes sustaining its urban growth a big challenge. A key factor determining urban sustainability is water and ensuring adequate water for all is indeed a task which is easier said than done. This challenge may only deepen and take the form of a crisis if much is not done today.

Venue: Dilli Haat, Pitampura (Near Netaji Subhash Place Metro Station, Red Line)

With this challenge as the backdrop, Delhi Greens and the DoE, Govt. of NCT of Delhi will be carrying out a day long campaign at Dilli Haat, Pitampura in order to generate awareness on the issue and create better informed and more responsible citizens. “Be Water Wise” campaign of Delhi Greens aspires citizens on the 3R’s ( Reuse, Reduce, Recycle) of water conservation. Come and sign the pledge  and “Be Water Wise”.

The “BE WATER WISE” campaign call for the people of Delhi to realize the importance of saving water and asks every citizen pledge the following actions:

  • I will not waste water
  • I will REUSE discarded R.O. water
  • I will REDUCE flushing into the Yamuna
  • I will respect the water (RE)CYCLE
  • I will work to save our Wetlands
  • I will spread this message of water conservation

Take the pledgeEvery drop matters, every glass counts. Let us save the very source which constitutes over 70% of both this Planet and our body. Let us save water so every individual can have her/his share.
