eInvite to Biodiversity Day Celebrations with Environment Ministry

22 May is celebrated as the International Day for Biological Diversity by the United Nations to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. The date marks the adoption of the text of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) on 22 May 1992. The Theme of the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) this year is, Our solutions are in Nature.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) invite all citizens to a join in the Virtual Celebrations of the IDB from its office in New Delhi.

The inaugural session of the IDB celebrations will be presided over by Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. This will be followed by an opening address on inaugural webinar by Shri Babul Supriyo, Hon’ble Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change on the theme, COVID-19 and One Health Initiative.

The IDB celebrations will witness the launch of NBA-UNDP Biodiversity Samrakshan Internship Programme, UNEP Campaign against illegal trafficking of endangered species and launch of NBA-UNDP Webinar Series on the theme, Biodiversity Conservation and Biological Diversity Act, 2002.
