IIL Foundation to Plant 10000 Trees in Bhiwadi Nagar Van
In a significant afforestation initiative, IIL Foundation, the CSR arm of Insecticides (India) Ltd. (IIL), has committed to planting and maintaining 10,000 trees in Nagar Van, Bhiwadi. The plantation drive is part of the Van Mahotsav Hariyalo Rajasthan campaign, led by the Government of Rajasthan, and will follow the Miyawaki method to create a dense urban forest.
The project was inaugurated with the participation of senior government officials including Shivangi Swarnkar, District Incharge Secretary and Managing Director of RIICO; Kishore Kumar, District Collector; Atul Prakash, CEO of BIDA; and Police Commissioner Prashant Kiran. Representatives from IIL’s leadership and staff from its Rajasthan manufacturing units were also present at the event.
The Miyawaki technique, known for its ability to develop dense forests in limited urban spaces within a short time, is being adopted for its ecological benefits—especially in industrial zones where air quality remains a concern.
Sanskar Aggarwal, representing the IIL leadership team, stated that the initiative aims to serve as a “natural oxygen bank and long-term carbon sink,” emphasizing the environmental and public health implications of restoring green cover in rapidly developing industrial regions.
Dr. Mukesh Kumar, Vice President at IIL and coordinator of the project, noted that the trees planted are expected to provide long-term benefits including improved air quality and ecological balance in the area. He added that similar efforts in the past have created accessible green spaces for local residents, such as a 4,000-tree mini forest developed by the Foundation in Chopanki last year.
The latest drive in Bhiwadi is part of IIL’s ongoing strategy to integrate environmental sustainability into its operational and corporate social responsibility framework.
While the project reflects the growing role of private sector engagement in ecological restoration, its success will depend on consistent maintenance and community involvement in the years ahead.
