The first day of the two-day long 4th Delhi Youth Summit on Climate Change concluded today in Miranda House with young people sharing ideas and green solution for protecting ‘our common environment’ and for sustaining the urban growth of Delhi. The Youth Summit began with remembering the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings on Environment and with Shlokas that call for environmental harmony. The Chief Guest of the occasion Padma Shree Awardee Dr. Anil P. Joshi called for the youth of Delhi to wake up and come to terms with the ecological crisis that Delhi and India are facing and start acting. He said that the onus is more on the youth of the Delhi, since they can represent their voices better. He called for the youth to prepare themselves on war scale for fighting

The Delhi Youth Summit on Climate Change (DYSoC) is a pioneering initiative of Delhi Greens towards engaging, inspiring and training the youth for taking up Environmental Leadership at local, national and global levels. The Fourth Delhi Youth Summit on Climate Change (DYSoC 2018) will take place on 3rd and 4th October 2018 at and in collaboration with the MH Vatavaran Eco Club of Miranda House, University of Delhi. Having almost always taken pride in being one of the greenest capital cities in the world, and led by a green Chief Minister as well, Delhi took the lead again in celebrating 5th June as the World Environment Day (WED) 2010...in style! The Hon'ble Chief Minister Smt. Sheila Dixit "kickstarted" the day by launching an electric vehicle rally from her residence in order to promote zero emission pollution free 'green transport' in the city. Supported by Hero Electric, a subsidiary of Hero Group, the rally saw participation from large number of people from all age groups.  From the CM’s Residence on Motilal Nehru Marg, the rally crossed Akbar Road, Shahjahan Road,  Aurangzeb Road, Samrat Hotel to reach the NDMC Commonwealth Garden where a token plantation  drive took place. The real challenge starts at the end. And the preparation that went in to come to such an end is indeed praiseworthy. Over hundred delegates turned up to face the challenge Delhi is in and took a stand against climate change. Harnessing the beautiful minds of the youth were prominent figures working on environmental issues across different fields in the city. “I am here because I haven’t seen any stars in Delhi,” a simple statement from Parth Joshi, one of the delegates who attended Delhi Youth Summit on Climate, 2010, gave an in-depth meaning to the summit’s aim and objective. To be a ‘change’ in the context of utilizing existing awareness and knowledge on environmental issues of Delhi was the foundation, based on which the two days youth summit was conducted.
