Street Performances for a Safer Delhi

The following is an invitation to all Delhiites – who are concerned about the city’s safety and who wish to make Delhi – a safer and better place to live in.

Jagori - Making Delhi SafeDelhi continues to kill its girl child in its shameful preference for sons. Abandoned girl children are occasionally found by garbage dumps or farm lands. Usually, they are killed in the womb through an abortion. To draw the attention of Delhi’s people to the subject, Jamghat and MakeMyTrip have come together to start a modest campaign.

Jamghat – a group of street children will stage a total of 10
performances (on female foeticde and sexual harassment) on the streets of Delhi and in its ‘killer’ buses this month. The buses will see what’s called ‘invisible theatre’…a group of passenger-actors will create a sexual harassment scene to evoke responses and engage passengers in the episode. The schedule of the plays trails along this note.

The plays end with a finale on 2nd September at India Gate…a silent demonstration, a human chain with men, women and girl children. We are creating banners, fliers and give-aways for the occasion. Please keep the evening free…it’s a Sunday.
