Invitation for Seminar: “Action on Climate Change”

The Oceanic Group (TOG), a non profit society with special focus on awareness building on Environment & Health issues had launched an Interactive Seminar Series (Bimonthly) on Climate Change (CC) on 4 June 2007 in collaboration with the India Habitat Centre (IHC).
 
The 1st Annual Seminar, the sixth seminar in the series will be held on the 4 June, 2008 at 6.30 pm at the Gulmohar Hall, India Habitat Centre. The theme of the seminar is ‘Action on Climate Change’
 
Mr Deepak Mukherjee, Head, Corporate Affairs, Shell India will be the Distinguished Speaker. Mr Ashok Sharma, award winning journalist will be another prominent speaker and will also be the moderator.

A short film, A Fable from the Himalayas will be screened on the occasion. It is a magical tale about a young boy who finds the solution to Global Warming from a monk in the mountains and was shot in Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh. The main intention of this film is to spread the message about how fast Global warming is impacting fragile ecosystems through a fairy tale. The film has been picked up by the United Nations Environment Programme for their Billion Tree Campaign. Nitin Das, the director is an IIM Lucknow alumnus and runs an independent film production house called Filmkaar Productions. He will also speak on the occasion.
 
The format of the programme has a Speaker and a Chairperson who moderates the programme and introduces the speaker. The Concluding Address elaborates on the future Action plan and is given by a distinguished person. This is followed by Discussion/ Q&A session. The programme would roughly be of 110 minutes.
