Civil Society Efforts Toward Delhi Bird Atlas Recognized

Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, along with the Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta launched and recognized a series of environmental initiatives on Environment Day 2026. The event, held at Namo Oxygen Park, Maidangarhi, marked a significant step towards strengthening urban greening, improving air quality and promoting community-led environmental stewardship.
Among other activities, the event witnessed the recognition of citizen & civil society efforts towards preparing Delhi Bird Atlas 2026. Contributors to the Delhi Bird Atlas were honoured with certificate of recognition during the event, acknowledging the role of citizen participation in environmental documentation and monitoring.
Delhi Bird Atlas 2026 is a compilation of data on Delhi’s avifauna, produced through an extensive citizen science effort involving birdwatchers, naturalists and volunteers across Delhi.
