Brown, President and Founder of the Earth Policy Institute, a Washington, D.C. based independent environmental research organization – on “PLAN B” AND YOUNG INDIA.
Date: 13th June, 2008
Time: 10.30 AM to 1.00 PM
Venue: Nehru Memorial Museum & Library (NMML), Teen Murti Bhawan
The panel discussion will be a real opportunity to get insights from a man who has been at the forefront of environmental activism.
Accompanying Mr. Brown will be the much inspiring, Bittu Sahgal, Editor of Sanctuary Magazine. The enthusiasm of Mr. Brown and Mr. Sahgal should make for an electric session. The event is particularly aimed at the youth of India who wish to take leadership on this critical issue.
In the words of Mr. Brown himself, “Plan B 3.0 is a comprehensive plan for reversing the trends that are fast undermining our future. Its four overriding goals are to stabilize climate, stabilize population, eradicate poverty, and restore the earth’s damaged ecosystems. Failure to reach any one of these goals will likely mean failure to reach the others as well.”
Mr. Brown is one of the word’s most influential thinkers on environmental sustainability. He has authored and/or coauthored 50 books. One of the world’s most widely published authors, his books have appeared in some 40 languages. Among his earlier books are Man, Land and Food, World Without Borders, and Building a Sustainable Society. His 1995 book Who Will Feed China? challenged the official view of China’s food prospect, spawning hundreds of conferences and seminars.
In May 2001, he founded the Earth Policy Institute to provide a vision and a road map for achieving an environmentally sustainable economy. In November 2001, he published Eco-Economy: Building an Economy for the Earth, which was hailed by E.O. Wilson as “an instant classic.” His most recent book is Plan B 3.0: Mobilizing to Save Civilization.
All are cordially invited for the event. Since the event is youth-oriented, please inform/motivate and get along as many youth-citizens that you can. Tea/Snacks will be served.
